A dynamic and accomplished Bharatanatyam artist, Vid. Sarath Naik is known for his vibrant stage presence, powerful nritta, expressive abhinaya, and remarkable energy. A disciple of Acharya Smt. Indira Kadambi, he has developed a distinctive artistic approach that brings together technical precision, musicality, strength, and sensitivity.
His performances are marked by clarity of movement, strong rhythmic command, expressive storytelling, and an intense connection with the character and emotion of each composition. His ability to seamlessly balance vigorous nritta with nuanced abhinaya has earned appreciation from the classical dance fraternity.
Sarath Naik continues to explore and present Bharatanatyam with sincerity, discipline, and artistic freshness, making him a compelling young voice in the contemporary Bharatanatyam landscape.
Kalaalayam Samstha is delighted to welcome Vid. Sarath Naik for this special Bharatanatyam Workshop.
Subramanya Kauthuvam is a vibrant and devotional Bharatanatyam composition dedicated to Lord Subramanya (Murugan), the valiant son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
The Kauthuvam beautifully celebrates the divine attributes, valour, grace, and splendour of Lord Subramanya, portraying him as the youthful warrior deity who triumphs over evil and protects his devotees. Through rhythmic patterns, expressive movements, and devotional passages, the dancer brings alive the majesty and heroic spirit of Murugan.
Traditionally presented with an emphasis on nritta, rhythmic syllables, and devotional expression, the composition offers the dancer an opportunity to explore both technical brilliance and bhakti. The dynamic nature of the piece beautifully reflects Murugan's courage, power, and divine energy, making it a captivating work for the Bharatanatyam repertoire.
